The Practiced Magic Deck was born in 2020, during the stillness of the pandemic. Created by R. Potter, it was envisioned as an upbeat, lively tarot deck for the dreamer — a heartfelt homage to Pamela Colman Smith and the classic Rider–Waite–Smith tradition.
Never drawn to the dark or foreboding, Potter set out to design something colorful, inviting, and refreshingly unpretentious — a deck that feels accessible, joyful, and alive.
Since its first release, multiple printings have sold out. Now, we’re reimagining the artwork using iPad and pencil, allowing for a cleaner, more refined look while preserving the heart of the original hand-painted edition.
We can’t wait for you to experience this new evolution. Below, you’ll find a few before-and-after glimpses as we prepare to launch the updated Practiced Magic Deck.
Enjoy the sneak peek — and keep practicing your magic.
